Server Status

The server status is reported by each GWAVAMAN and replicated through the GWAVA network. Basic connectivity information, as well as replicator status information is reported.

Select the appropriate server, expand Server Management and select Server Status.

At the top, the server name, IP connectivity information for GWAVAMAN, platform (Windows, Linux, NetWare), home directory, and status are listed. An offline status, indicates that the GWAVAMAN server, the administrator has currently logged into, has not received status information recently from the selected server.

The Live Info shown below is only shown for the local server (the GWAVAMAN server you are directly logged into. This includes both generic server information such as the server name, local time, up time, and startup time, as well as specific information about the database replicator used to replicate the GWAVAMAN configuration.

The most important statistics are:

  • Replicator state - should be Ready to send replicated objects.
  • Queued replication object - how many objects (configuration records) are waiting to replicated. This should always be 0, given sufficient time to replicate. You can force a replication or cancel replication in the Replication Manager
  • Obituary record count - records that have been marked deleted. These will be fully deleted during the maintenance period around midnight. You can purge obituaries early in the Replication Manager
TIP: Two different GWAVAMAN servers should agree on the status of a server(within a few minutes communications lag). If they do not, this is a potential indication of replication problems.

Online Status

In short, this displays some basic information about the scanner, whether it is online or offline, and when information was last received from the scanner. This information originates initially from the GWAVA component, is sent to the local GWAVAMAN component, and then replicated.

Expand the folder for the appropriate server, expand Manage scanners, choose the appropriate scanner, select Scanning configuration, then click on Status.

For advanced configurations where multiple interfaces are sharing the same scanner setup, the number of interfaces will be displayed here.

If the scanner has never been started, the online status is unavailable.

TIP: Two different GWAVAMAN servers should agree on the status of a scanner (within a few minutes of a communications lag). If they do not, this is a potential indication of replication problems.

Scanner Statistics

You may view statistics here, such as the number of viruses caught, the amount of spam found, etc, on both an overall and per-day basis. This information originates initially from the GWAVA component, it is sent to the local GWAVAMAN component. Due to the overwhelming quantity of statistics, this information is not replicated and can only be viewed from the server which physically runs the scanner.

Expand the folder for the appropriate server, expand Manage scanners, choose the appropriate scanner, select Scanning configuration, then click on Statistics.

Click the Request Stats Refresh link to force the statistics to refresh immediately.

TIP: Statistics are sent from the scanners up to the GWAVAMAN approximately every 10 minutes. If you need to know what the stats are right now, use the stats refresh link to initiate an upload from the scanner.
