User Options
From GWAVA4
The Options function tab in the QMS (Quarantine Management System) is available to both administrators and users. The Options tab lets you display information about the currently logged in user, and change some of their settings.
An administrator can edit all of these settings for any user in Users and Groups (QMS). For a user, this tab serves as their primary configuration tool in the QMS.
The Options function tab consists of 5 subsections:
- Core Settings - general user information
- Addresses - secondary addresses the user "owns"
- Rights - rights the user has
- Event Scope - the Event Scope of the user
- Miscellaneous - various display and session options
- NOTE: As you make changes to your configuration, the disk icon
in the upper right corner of the page will become active and the words SAVE CHANGES will appear. Do not forget to click the icon to save your changes before moving to another page, or your changes will be lost.

Core Settings
Although mostly informational, this section summarizes core user information.
- UserID - read-only. The unique UserID that the user account is stored under. Normally the same as the Primary Address, for non-administrators.
- Group - read-only. The group to which the user is assigned, and from which additional rights, Event Scope, and initial settings may be inherited.
- Address - the Primary e-mail Address the user owns. This setting is ignored for administrators. If a valid password is assigned that can be authenticated via GroupWise, the user may change his/her Primary Address.
Addresses
The purpose of secondary addresses, managed in this page, is outlined in Rights, Event_Scope, and Managed Addresses. To summarize, this help defines what e-mail a user can see, and how digests are compiled. It is irrelevant to administrators, who may access all e-mail in the QMS.
Non-administrators may freely remove secondary addresses. However to add new secondary addresses, they must either have an administrator add the address, or be able to supply a password and authenticate via GroupWise with that address. This allows a degree of user "self-serve" when managing addresses while maintaining securities.
It is a valid option for more than one user to manage the same address. These addresses can be assigned manually or via a group. Note that if the message is deleted for one of these users, the other sharers of the same address will also lose access to the message. This is by design.
Rights
The purpose of rights, managed in this page, is summarized in Rights, Event_Scope, and Managed Addresses. In short, rights govern which task bar functions are available and what mail is visible to the user. This page is irrelevant to administrators, who automatically have all rights
Summarized in a read-only fashion are all rights the user possesses. Both explicitly granted rights, and those inherited from a group are listed. All information is read-only.
Event Scope
The purpose of Event Scope, managed in this page, is summarized in Rights, Event_Scope, and Managed Addresses. In short, Event Scope affects the Release function (QMS Task Details). This page is irrelevant to administrators.
Summarized in a read-only fashion is the Event Scope the user possesses. Explicitly granted Scope, and those inherited from a group are listed. All information is read-only.
Miscellaneous
All of the Miscellaneous options may be changed by the user. They may be set initially by the administrator at the user or group level.
Most miscellaneous options are related to display and search options.
- Comment - The default comment appended to forwarded messages can be set here. If the user doesn't have the forward right, this section is not displayed.
- Date/Time format - The user may set what date and time format they are comfortable with here. This is used throughout the QMS particularly in the Quarantine tab's Message List. The default is Day-ShortMonth-Year, 24 hours.
- Display Number - How many items are displayed per page in the Quarantine tab's Message List. The default is 25. The larger the number, the longer the Message List will take to load. It is recommended that this setting be kept between 25 and 100, and searching be used to narrow down the displayed list.
- Message Age Display - How many days of messages should be displayed by default in the Quarantine tab's Message List. The default is 3 days.
- Session Timeout - Time in minutes, to expire an inactive login session. We do not recommend a time exceeding 30 minutes, for security reasons. The default is 10 minutes.
