QMS Introduction
From GWAVA4
When a Quarantine service is triggered, GWAVA stores the message in the QMS (Quarantine Management System). Other ways to populate the QMS are less common, and discussed in Populating the QMS System.
The QMS serves the following purposes:
- Allows administrators and users to manage their quarantined mail. Management options include releasing, forwarding, deleting, whitelisting, etc. See QMS Task Details for more information.
- Allows administrators to configure the Digest Services, permitting regular e-mail notification of messages that have been stored in the QMS and easy retrieval.
Configuration
Most configuration options can be accessed by the Administrator inside the QMS system. A few options are available only at the Configuring General Server Options level.
Accessing the Quarantine
There are three ways to access the QMS system:
- GWAVAMAN - To access the QMS, open the Gwava Management Console in a web browser and click on the Quarantine Manager link. Then inside the dialog screen, click the Click this link to launch the quarantine manager link.
- Direct access - Assuming that you have not changed the defaults in General Server Options, Open a web browser and type http://ipaddress:49285. If you've turned on SSL (Securing your GWAVA Server (SSL)), this URL may have changed.
- Digest - Click the Current Quarantine button in the digest.
In all cases, you are presented with the following dialog.
GWAVA Administrators may enter their GWAVAMAN userid and password here. An account will be created for them and they will automatically be granted Administrative rights.
Regular users should enter their GroupWise e-mail address in full, and their GroupWise password. This will be authenticated against their GWIA server. They will be granted no specific rights by default, but will be granted membership to the group 'default' (which may allow them to inherit rights and set some default settings.
In both cases note that the QMS never stores the password. This is for security reasons.
After successful login, the user will be brought to the main QMS interface screen.
Account Restrictions
The Administrator may set up many restrictions, including expiration of accounts, the maximum age of accounts, and whether new accounts are permitted in the Globals function tab of the QMS interface.
