QMS Global Settings
From GWAVA4
The Globals function tab is only accessible by QMS (Quarantine Management System) administrators.
The Globals function tab, as the name implies, is where various settings which affect all users of the QMS may be reviewed and changed.
There are six subtabs of the Globals function tab:
- Deletion
- BCC
- Tutorials
- Authentication
- Pruning
- NOTE: As you make changes to your configuration, the disk icon
in the upper right corner of the page will become active and the words SAVE CHANGES will appear. Do not forget to click the icon to save your changes before moving to another page, or your changes will be lost.

Under Login, the administrator may change any of the following options:
- The number of days an account can be inactive before being deleted. A value of 0 disables the expiration. As noted, the cleanup check is performed during every user login.
- The administrator can prevent new accounts from being created. Typically this is because the administrator doesn't want the QMS to be available for end-users. This restriction does not apply to GWAVAMAN administrators, and does not affect currently created accounts (although the administrator could manually delete these in the User function tab)
- The administrator can prevent specific accounts from ever being allowed to login, even if they have been previously created. One use of this is with end-users that the administrator specifically wishes to prevent from accessing the QMS.
Deletion
These options control exactly what happens when a message is deleted. Further discussion may be found in QMS Task Details
BCC
The administrator may turn on/off an automatic BCC (blind carbon copy, meaning the user is unaware of this) performed whenever a message is released by any QMS user or via the Digest Services. A comma delimited list of addresses may be supplied.
One very good use of this is to track messages users consider to be incorrectly classified by the anti-spam system.
Tutorials
Normally, an option to view tutorials appears (after the user's first QMS login), and henceforth a link for Tutorials appears in the browser window. This tutorial requires Flash and Sound card support and is in English. It may be suppressed.
Authentication and Pruning
These are mirrors of the GWAVAMAN General Server Options dealing with the QMS.
