Oversized messages
From GWAVA4
Oversized messages can unnecessarily increase your disk space and network bandwidth requirements. To stop oversized from entering your network through the messaging system, simply select the appropriate server that the scanner resides on. Next, open the sub-folders until you reach Scanning Configuration, and click on Oversize.
- NOTE: As you make changes to your configuration, the disk icon
in the upper right corner of the page will become active and the words SAVE CHANGES will appear. Do not forget to click the icon to save your changes before moving to another page, or your changes will be lost.
Check the box to the oversized event system, and check the block service to block the message. If you wish to quarantine the message, or notify the sender, recipient, or administrator, turn on the appropriate service.
Remember to specify the size at which the event is triggered. The default is 8192 (8 megabytes).
Services
Block - Do not allow this message to pass through.
Notify Sender - Send an e-mail to the sender of the message. The specific contents of the e-mail are based upon a template configured in Configuring Notification Options
Notify Recipient - Send an e-mail to the recipient of the message. (Usually, this service is used in conjunction with a Block). The specific contents of the e-mail are based upon a template configured in Configuring Notification Options
Notify Administrator - Send an e-mail to the administrator about the message. The specific contents of the e-mail are based upon a template configured in Configuring Notification Options
Quarantine - Store the message in the GWAVA Quarantine Management System (QMS). Users with accounts in the GMS will be able to access these messages, and possibly release or forward them, depending on the configured rights. These messages will also be subject to being compiled into an digest notification sent to users, if the QMS administrator has turned this function on.
- NOTE: Multistate services are disabled by default. Choose the
Preferences button on the upper right to enable or disable Multistate services.
Exceptions
It is possible to create exceptions to oversized message events. See Managing exceptions for more information.
