From GWAVA4

Jump to: navigation, search

GWAVA 4 provides several system tools that allows you to

  • rename a server
  • delete a server
  • rebuild system menus
NOTE: These tools are not to be used lightly. Make sure that all of the GWAVA network servers are functioning and communicating with each other, or inconsistent results may occur.

To access these tools, open the System Management pane on the left side of the GWAVAMAN interface, expand System tools, and click on System Maintenance.

Rebuilding System Menus

You may be instructed to rebuild GWAVA 4's System Menu after an update. You may do this from the System Maintenance page, located under the System Tools option. (System Management pane)

All of your selections from the tree interface on the left side of the GWAVAMAN display is drawn from a database. This tool rebuilds the system menus. It should be used only when instructed to do so.

Renaming a Server

Renaming a server is a relatively benign operation. Internally GWAVA doesn't use the server name, it uses a unique ID. Renaming a server is strictly for the benefit of the administrator.

Clicking on Rename a server in this GWAVA network presents a page prompting you to select the server to be renamed and the new name to be assigned

You'll be prompted to confirm the rename operation. Afterwards, you should click the Image:GMANSysMaintHomeButton.jpg button to refresh the server display.

Removing a Server

Removing a server is a destructive operation, typically performed if a server is being permanently removed from the GWAVA network. The GWAVA software should be shut down on the server being removed from the network. Consult Uninstalling GWAVA to remove the software pieces remaining on that server.

NOTE: A server removal operation is normally irreversible.
NOTE: You will not be permitted to remove the server if this is a single server GWAVA network. Consult Uninstalling GWAVA to uninstall the server. Also server removal cannot be performed on the server that is being removed from the network - you must be logged into GWAVAMAN on another server

You'll be warned of these issues, and be able to select a server to be removed (this choice will be confirmed before proceeding)
