Default Settings for the Network

From GWAVA4

Jump to: navigation, search

When you first install GWAVA 4 to the very first server in your GWAVA network, you specified several pieces of information such as Default Internet domain name, GWAVA administration name and e-mail address, and SMTP relay server information.

These items were used for this server's installation. They were also copied into the Default Settings section of the GWAVAMAN interface. Each subsequent server inherits these settings (and several others) as defaults. Of course, you can override the settings at the server if you wish (General Server Options).

Changing the Default Settings does not affect any' currently installed servers, only servers installed after the changes are made.

Select the System Management subsection from the navigation area on the left, then click on the System Management node. Finally, choose Default Settings.

  • Default Internet domain - Your organization's primary internet domain.
  • The IP address or DNS host name of your mail relay agent - Any SMTP server is fine here, including the GroupWise Internet Agent (GWIA) as long as it will accept mail relaying from GWVRELAY. A DNS host name is recommended, so that all servers can access the relay server if desired, and changing the IP address does not prevent all notifications from being sent.
  • Because a secure SMTP server generally does NOT allow open relaying, you needed to specify a user name and password accepted by your SMTP server (for example, for GWIA, any valid GroupWise account).
  • GWAVA administrator full name, GWAVA administrator e-mail address - these are primarily used for e-mail notifications, such as status messages, or Administrator Notifications.
  • The maximum SMTP send threads - (default 16) - Maximum number of simultaneous notifications that GWVRELAY can perform. On a very busy GWAVA system, you might have to increase this.
  • Additional internet domains - if your organization has multiple internet domains, add them here.
  • QMS SMTP Authentication Server - the default IP address or DNS host name used to authenticate end users logging into the Quarantine Management System (QMS). Often, but not always the same as your mail relay agent, depending on the topology of your system.
