Situation

How do I log into Retain after upgrading to SLES 11 SP3?

Resolution:
SLES 11 SP3 forces you to upgrade to to MySQL 5.5. This requires a conversion of the database before MySQL can run again.

Note: This process information is being provided as a courtesy. If you experience MySQL issues, or errors after running the following command, contact SUSE support.

Backup your database before making changes. Default location is /var/lib/mysql

To migrate the MySQL database, run the following commands as root:

touch /var/lib/mysql/.force_upgrade
rcmsql restart

Note: Retain 3.x is highly recommend and upgrading to MySQL 5.5 is a required step of this process. When following this upgrade guide, you can skip steps that pertain to upgrading MySQL to version 5.5; steps 9-12.
