Environment

GWAVA 4 All Builds Netware 6.5 SP5 + LINUX OES, SLES9.3, SLES10.x

Situation

.REQ files are created by the GWVGWIA when it loses its connection  to GWAVA.  If this occurs mail flow will stop and .REQ files will begin to populate into the 3rd/receive and gwia/send folders. The REQ files are created so GWVGWIA knows to try again later on those messages. GWVGWIA is responsible for transferring or removing messages after GWAVA is finished scanning the message. If the message is found clean by GWAVA, it transfers the message to the GWIA to be delivered. If the message is found to be spam and is set to block, according to the GWAVA configuration settings, it will remove the message from the 3rd/receive directory.

Resolution

Restarting GWAVA will help to get mail flow going again.
Consult log files to see what GWAVA was doing right before the problem occurred.
