Situation

Where are the dbcopy log files stored?

Reload will place the last 10 lines of the dbcopy logs into the agent log; however, this leaves out a lot of information that could be helpful when troubleshooting a backup that isn't working properly.

Resolution

There are dbcopy log files for the backup process of USER*.DB, MSG*.DB, and OFFILES.  Each of the dbcopy logs are saved in separate directories.  The filenames are mmddgwbk.00n (i.e., 0522gwbk.001, 0522gwbk.002, etc.).

The location of the dbcopy log files AFTER a backup has completed (and these are also in the portable directories):

OFUSER: ../<profile dir>/backups/weeknow/<day of week>/gre_data/dbcopy_logs/dbs/ofuser/
OFMSG: ../<profile dir>/backups/weeknow/<day of week>/gre_data/dbcopy_logs/dbs/ofmsg/
OFFILES: ../<profile dir>/blobs/b2 (single BLOBS thread)
OFFILES
: ../<profile dir>/blobs/b5 - b14 (multiple BLOBS threads)

The location of the dbcopy log files DURING a backup job (especially helpful if a backup job is stalling):

OFUSER: ../<profile dir>/backups/creating/3
OFMSG
: ../<profile dir>/backups/creating/4
OFFILES
: ../<profile dir>/blobs/b2 (single BLOBS thread)
OFFILES
: ../<profile dir>/blobs/b5 - b14 (multiple BLOBS threads)
The location of the dbcopy log files during a MIGRATION job:
  • Destination post office directory; or,
  • /mnt/reload/profiles/[profile name]/srvmnt20/volmap
